In preparation to attend a local fly-fishing show, Al decided to “clean out” his travel tying kit and ended up “finding” a small box of prepared cut wings. Back in the day, we tied many cut-or-burned wing flies but have not done so for many years. On YouTube, we found that the only “cutters” used regularly today were for foam fly bodies. This Friday, we’ll review many different cut/burn-wing fly styles and even tie some patterns as part of our walk down memory lane. We’ll explore a sharp WEEKLY TIP we learned about from Marty Howard at the recent Boise show.
