Location             Wednesday evening Lake Lowell

BVFF Bass Meet ups.

With Steve Adkins --

Date           May 25th Wednesday evening 5:30 to dark

Outing Type:

I will be heading a few meet ups at Lake Lowell for bass fishing out of a float tube.  I have been having lots of success for small and large mouth bass out at Lake Lowell for a couple of years. I think it is an entirely underutilized body of water in our backyard. Fish like to hide in the cover of structure.

Fish Species:

Smallmouth Bass

Largemouth Bass

Yellow Perch

Bluegill

White Crappie

See link to IDF&G Fish Planner Below.

Camping/Lodging:

N/A. This is local area meet-up. Come after work and enjoy.

Boat/Float Tube access:

Good from the meet—up point. Other access points on the Lake.

Float tube or pontoon boat- Life jacket and whistle required by law

Wading/Shore Fishing:

Waders- I do not recommend wet wading in Lake Lowell. I also recommend catch and release.

Distance from Boise:

20 miles – enjoy this Lake in Nampa, Idaho.

I fish at one spot every time. It is on the south side of the lake off of Lake Shore Drive. It is the second pull out east of the boat ramp on Lake Shore Drive. There is a nice paved parking lot to gear up. It is between where Locust Ln and Lake Shore drive split and before Pump road. I access Lake Shore Drive from Highway 45 (Extension of 12th Ave). There are a couple gas stations on the corner for food and drink. If you send me a text with BVFF Lake Lowell, I will send you a GPS pin to get you there (once you register)

I will post a sign at the pull out. I have a silver 4runner with lots of fly fishing stickers. I will be coming after work so feel free to beat me there.

Recommended Equipment:

I use a Redington 6 wt. with a 10 ft sink tip almost exclusively. 6-7 wt rods, 10 ft sink tip or floating line. 1x-3x tippet and leaders 7 ft long. Lake Lowell is as shallow lake and the structure near shore is only about 10 ft deep. A net is nice to have as well. I use a fast action

Streamer flies, weighted or un-weighted, rubber legs are great Brown, green, black, white. Zonkers strips or marabou flies. A little too early for poppers
