BVFF has a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of Boise River angling with this project to augment gravel for trout spawning on a side channel of the river located just above the head of Eagle Island. BVFF needs only six or so volunteers to help spread gravel in three target areas for enhancement. This work should require only a few hours. This project is in conjunction with Boise River Flood District #10 and Idaho Fish & Game.
The Flood District work crews will be performing channel maintenance on the river to minimize flooding during fall months. They have generously offered to utilize this work force and their heavy equipment to help move the augmentation gravel. BVFF will fund and source the gravel, and provide some labor for its final placement. The timing of the volunteers is opportunistic in order for BVFF to leverage the use of very expensive equipment for this cause.
Flood District work crews have been completing other upstream scheduled work sooner than expected. Because of this, the Dry Creek area maintenance work may come up earlier than has been scheduled (early December). Thus the date for this work is not determined.
Please register if you are interested and can help with this project. We are collecting names of interested volunteers ONLY at this time-- it is NOT a commitment. When a firm date has been established, you will be contacted for confirmation.
