This month the BVFF club is proud to present:
When we are out on the water, we don't like to think about injuries or medical situations that could happen, but occasionally they do. If something happens to you or you fishing companion, would you know what to do?
Jeremy is passionate about helping others and sharing his time on the water. Rather than pretending to have any level of fly fishing acumen, he’ll be sharing a bit of his expertise in pre-hospital medicine. His talk will focus on mishaps that can occur during a fishing trip, how to take steps to prevent them from happening, and what to do should the unfortunate occur.
As a special bonus there will be a door prize drawing, eligible for all meeting attendees, for a first-aid kit and fishing hook removal tool.
Jeremy Schabot has worked for Ada County Paramedics since 1997. Prior to beginning his EMS career, Jeremy attended Cornell University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Throughout his career, Jeremy has been heavily involved in education, serving as a paramedic instructor for Ada County Paramedics and Idaho State University. He worked as a Field Training Officer for nearly 13 years, a Captain for 4 years, and was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2017. He has been awarded Paramedic of the Year, Field Supervisor of the Year, & Provider of the Year during his tenure with Ada County. In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors, skiing, fly fishing, backpacking, camping, and relaxing. He has been fly fishing since 1993 and tying flies since 2000. He has not received awards for either of these efforts.
